Here’s some fantastic concept art from Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards (1977). Wizards was Bakshi’s first foray into the Fantasy genre. All these images were created by comic book artist Mike Ploog, who often contributed his talents to film working on Bakshi’s The Lord of the Rings as well as The Thing, Superman II, Little Shop of Horrors, The Dark Crystal, and Shrek. Ploog’s style was heavily influenced by the legendary Will Eisner, who he apprenticed under.
